Winter white and Orca bay

HI Y'all! Hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving! We went and saw our son on the east coast...it was just so beautiful, crisp and cold and such wonderful flocks of migrating birds...just fun! Above...aren't these the cutest blocks ever? These are some of the blocks for step 2, Orca Bay...Bonnie Hunter's newest mystery quilt. I have not missed one of her mysteries yet...they are such fun! Are you doing the mystery? come on...join in!!!

While visiting my son, we went to an antique mall, and I found this amazing whole cloth quilt. Quilted about 14-16 stitches per inch, amazingly even and gorgeous stitches. I cannot get a picture, but there is a star in the middle, in medallion style. What a gorgeous quilt! I paid the princely sum of $95.00, plus 20% off that for the sale that was going on...the back is turned to the front to from about a 3/16Th's inch binding...it is so pretty! So old...I am shocked at how little it cost for such a treasure. Quilter of yore...I honor your work!!!

Have a great day, all!!

Thank you for honoring this amazing quilter... how sad to think of it languishing in an antique store with the possibility of someone buying it who wouldn't appreciate it like you do, what incredible workmanship! I need to go to Quiltville and check out Orca Bay. Have a great week~

I love it when someone rescues a quilt that knows how much work it took to complete such a piece. Love those little Orca Bay blocks. I'm saving the clues and will get busy soon.

What an amazing quilt - don't you just love finding such wonderful treasures? I'm still on the fence with Orca - I really, really want to do it, but I've got some other projects (Christmas gifts) that I absolutely have to get finished first!

What a wonderful find! I'm glad you rescued this quilt from the antique shop! The Orca Bay sounds like fun, but I'm sticking to finishing some of my already started projects whenever I have time to quilt -- which hasn't been a lot lately! :( Too many "have to do's"!

That's beautiful! I can see the star inside the circle--so gorgeous!

I have too much going on to do one of Bonnie's mysteries right now. They are so piecing-intense! But they are nice, I have to admit!

I'm loving the Orca Bay projects that I've seen on blogs. I'll have to print out the steps, but won't be able to start on it just yet. What a treasure you've rescued!

I'm glad you rescued another treasure of a quilter's work! So sad that people let those things go. Glad you had a wonderful visit with your son.

The little string blocks are cute--I couldn't face the big ones from last year's mystery!

Oh you are doing a fine job keeping up.....I've still got plenty to do!

thank goodness you rescued that quilt.....don't want someone to get it that will not honor all those hours making tiny stitches.
May she rest in peace and not know someone gave away this treasure.

Happy Sewing

Puffins and purples!!

I was tempted by Puffins...a squirrelly breed!!  LOL!  This fabric was shared with me, and I have been loved these bright, candy corn colors...
